THE SIGHTS

There are so many exciting things to see in Edinburgh, there's nowhere else quite like it...

From stunning architecture to an awe-inspiring castle perched on a dormant volcano, here are some of the best places to see in Edinburgh.

EDINBURGH CASTLE

Dominating the skyline of Edinburgh, this imposing 12th Century fortress is easily the most iconic building in the city. Check out breath-taking panoramic views from its lookout position on the Castle Rock and don’t forget to discover the Crown Jewels and the fascinating history inside its museums.

QUEEN’S ROYAL YACHT, BRITANNIA

If you’ve ever wondered what royalty feels like, step aboard the Britannia. The former official ship of the Queen has sailed many seas and oceans for over 40 years!

THE SCOTT MONUMENT

A must-visit, this striking Gothic monument stands proudly on the edge of busy Princes Street. Built to commemorate Sir Walter Scott, the structure towers 61 metres high. The 287 step climb to the top is well worth the spectacular view of the city below!

ARTHUR’S SEAT

Put on your hiking shoes and climb Edinburgh’s ancient volcano. At an impressive height of 822 feet, Arthur’s Seat is believed to be around 350 million years old and is entwined with numerous mythological stories. Reach the summit and experience 360-degree panoramic views of Edinburgh and the Lothians.

THE ROYAL MILE

Lined with glorious churches, townhouses and historic landmarks, The Royal Mile is an amazing thoroughfare to wander for its shops (including kiltmakers), pubs, museums, cafés, and restaurants.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF SCOTLAND

For free indoor fun, head to the National Museum of Scotland, one of the best attractions in Edinburgh. With over 20,000 unique artefacts to discover, there's something for all the family. Spend your visit learning about the catacombs of Egypt, the wonders of nature and modern-day technology.

EDINBURGH CASTLE

SIR WALTER SCOTT MONUMENT

ARTHUR’S SEAT / SALSBURY CRAGGS

FOOD AND DRINK

This exquisite capital is a must for foodies with some of the best restaurants in Europe...

Check out some of the best spots to eat, drink, and play in Edinburgh.

THE ROYAL MILE

The Royal Mile runs through the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, from the magnificent Castle to the splendid Palace of Holyroodhouse. Not only is the Royal Mile peppered with amazing attractions but is also lined with some of the best eating and drinking spots in the city.

AIZLE

Located in Charlotte Square, Aizle offers a truly fancy night out. Their mantra is that the best meals are the ones you don’t have to choose! All the food and drink at Aizle is made in-house, from hand churned butter to nutritious live fermented sourdough to the aquavit and aged kombucha in the cocktails.

THE BON VIVANT

Of course, a visit to Scotland wouldn’t be complete without trying haggis! If you’re a novice to the often contentious classic Scottish dish (chopped-up sheep organs and oats boiled in a sheep’s stomach), a great place to start is The Bon Vivant where you can order haggis bonbons - haggis that’s breaded, deep-fried and served with bacon mayo.

HOOT THE REDEEMER

Hoot the Redeemer is a cocktail bar determined to help you have a great time. Dive into this wonderfully quirky cocktail bar with its unique retro 1950s New Orleans funfair-theme. The whole place is alive with an old-timey-carnival theme, including a claw machine you can pick cocktail ingredients with and a boozy ice cream dispenser!

THE LUCKY LIQUOR CO

Who said 13 was unlucky? The Lucky Liquor takes 13 bottles of spirits, uses them to make 13 cocktails and keeps them on the menu for 13 weeks. Featuring wide open spaces with bright white walls and light wood tables, the bar is a refreshing place to be in. With its cool Edinburgh vibe and friendly staff, it is well worth a visit.

THE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE

Edinburgh offers an abundance of opportunities to taste the local whiskies. If you’re a connoisseur head to The Devil’s Advocate for some of the best scotch selections in the city centre with literally hundreds of whisky options, together with friendly staff who can help you concoct the perfect flight.

To see whisky-making up close and personal, venture to Glenkinchie Distillery, which is about half an hour from Edinburgh and runs shuttle buses from the city centre twice a day. Once there, choose from a range of experiences, from a basic tour and single sample dram to a six-whisky personal tasting tour presented by the distillery manager.
